Knowing and Recognizing the Season
September 27, 2015      |     By: Jonathan Brickley      |      Category: Sermons

In order to stay in step with God’s seasons, we must be filled with and led by the Holy Spirit. This makes the process of change and transition an exciting one instead of a fearful one.

Signs of this season:

Gearing Up

Word in Season is “TRANSITION”

“Transition”  -     A change from one state or condition to another.

-A passage from one stage orplace to another.

-A movement or development from one stage to another.

Key words:    “FROM”  ----  “TO”

Our very lives - spiritual & physical - are in essence - a transition.

Psalms 39:5-6

"Surely all mankind stands as a mere breath! Surely a man goes about as a shadow! Surely for nothing they are in turmoil; a man heaps up wealth and does not know who will gather."

Our bodies will pass FROM death TO everlasting life.

“I Tell you a mystery - we will not all sleep - but we shall be CHANGED - in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.”  (I Cor 15).

Spiritually we are transformed “From Glory to Glory”  --   From one degree of glory to another.

The life of a disciple is one of transition:

Journey - Path - Walk of Faith

Fire by night - cloud by day

I Peter 2:11

We too - “Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.”

Luke 4

People- “Would have kept Jesus from leaving them, but he said I MUST PREACH THE GOOD NEWS OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD TO THE OTHER TOWNS - For I was sent for this purpose.

Spirit of Babylon - in our nature - We love the KNOWN, We hate the UNKNOWN

Jeremiah 29

BUT  remember the end goal - remember your true home - remember transition is coming :

29:10-11, “For thus says the Lord: When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will visit you, and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place. 11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Ezra 1

After 70 years Cyrus’ spirit is stirred by the Lord - to fulfill Jeremiah’s word - to RELEASE the Israelites and send them back to their home land to rebuild the temple.

    CYRUS -  Isaiah 44:27 - 45:6

Approx 50,000 returned in 1st wave  (EZ 2:64-65)

VERY small percentage.   (Vast majority (millions) stayed in Babylon).

Isaiah’s prophecy is KEY  (Is 10:20-22)   (Only a remnant would return)

Those who stayed in Babylon “leaned on him who struck them”

Those who returned to Israel “Leaned on the Lord in truth!”

#1)  Isaiah 10:20

In that day the remnant of Israel and the survivors of the house of Jacob will no more lean on him who struck them, but will lean on the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

#2)  Ezra 1:5

"Everyone who's spirit God had stirred...."  - Went back to the work!

Called to the mission!

IN order to stay in step with God’s seasons, we must be filled with and led by the Holy Spirit.

This makes the process of change and transition an exciting one instead of a fearful one.

Transition is upon us as a church, as a people, and as a nation.

The Season’s are changing in the physical and in the spiritual.

Are you excited about that, are you ready to move and shift, or does that make you fearful?

If you are in Christ, the blood is over your doorpost tonight!

The door of the Ark is securely shut and the boat is seaworthy!

I Cor 7: 29 - 31

This is what I mean, brothers: the appointed time has grown very short. From now on, let those who have wives live as though they had none, and those who mourn as though they were not mourning, and those who rejoice as though they were not rejoicing, and those who buy as though they had no goods, 31 and those who deal with the world as though they had no dealings with it. FOR the present form of this world is passing away.
