Notes

Ephesians 2:10

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

The reality is that most believers are dealing with debilitating:

1. Ignorance

2. Fear

3. Insecurity

4. Rebellion

Like gold hidden in the mountains, God’s servants are hidden away in a mire of religion and flesh.

Good News: God is committed to the recovery of his workmanship and their good works.

Insecure First Response by Biblical Leaders to the Call of God:

Moses –

Exodus 3:10-11

Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” 11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”

Gideon –

Judges 6:14-15

And the Lord turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian; do not I send you?” 15 And he said to him, “Please, Lord, how can I save Israel? Behold, my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.”

Jeremiah –

Jeremiah 1:4-6

Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” 6 Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.”

God’s Answer to Insecurity

Moses –

Exodus 3:12

He said, “But I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”

Gideon –

Judges 6:16

And the Lord said to him, “But I will be with you, and you shall strike the Midianites as one man.”

Jeremiah –

Jeremiah 1:7-8

But the Lord said to me,

“Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.”

God engages weak men and women and calls them to glorious purpose beyond their ability.

He does not wait for us to earn the right to glorious purpose.  He has already destined this glorious purpose before we are prepared.

Jeremiah 1:5

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Judges 6:12

And the angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, “The Lord is with you, O mighty man of valor.”

This is true of all of us.

God has predetermined gifting and purpose for your life.

He calls it true before we are prepared and then works with us patiently and diligently to get us through our fear, insecurity, and unbelief.

His Presence is the ultimate qualifier for everything that he has called us to do.

New Life Commission in this recovery and restoration mission.

We have a specific servants’ call to the larger body of Christ to assist in a great recovery movement of his workmanship and their Spirit ordained works.

1. We have a Samuel Call to raise up kings to spread the kingdom.

“I have called you to raise up kings through prayer and the word of the Lord but not to be a king."

2. We have an Aaron and Hur Call to raise the hands of Moses’s - Exodus 17:11-13

Exodus 17:11-13

Whenever Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed, and whenever he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moses' hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it, while Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. So his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. 13 And Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his people with the sword.

“Overwhelmed by the Spirit and bending over under His power, Matt Penner told me that the Spirit has called me to a ministry in the body of Christ like Aaron and Hur to hold the arms of Moses up across the city.”

3. We have a John the Baptist ministry:

“Dennis Turner, pastor of Eastside Community Church of God, was compelled to tell me that the Spirit spoke to him that I am a ‘voice calling out in the desert - prepare the way of the Lord.’”

4. Jonathan gave me eight words on my 48th birthday:

We, New Life, are a pivot point for many in the body of Christ.

I am about to enter into a season of favor to shepherd many shepherds.
