Acts 1:1-8

In the first book, O Theophilus, I have dealt with all that Jesus began to do and teach,  2 until the day when he was taken up, after he had given commands through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.  3 He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. 4 And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me;  5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”  7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Jesus post-resurrection teaching was about the kingdom of God. vs. 3

It is so dominant that the disciples minds are fixed upon kingdom thinking. vs. 6

Mt. 3:1,2

In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea,  2 “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

Mt. 4:17 & 23

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

23 And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people.

In the 4 Gospels:

Jesus mentioned the church 4 times in 2 verses.

He mentions the kingdom over 100 times.

The Kingdom of God has 2 primary meanings and manifestations.

1) First it clearly stands for the total, supreme, and visible global reign of King Jesus at the end the age that will exercise authority over all the nations of the earth. This will be irresistible. And will be entered and experienced by sight.

2) Secondly it stands for the “invisible" present dynamic rule of Jesus by the Holy Spirit in this present dark age. This is now resistible. And it is entered and experienced by faith.

Right now we actually have 3 kingdom operating:

1. Kingdoms of the world.

2. Kingdom of Satan.

3. Kingdom of God.

The word kingdom comes from the greek word - basileia. And this word means the “dynamic right to rule”.

The kingdom of God has some of these features:

1. Presence of A King: Jesus in the Father

2. Authority & Power: Manifest Word and Spirit

3. Citizens: Born again believers filled with the Spirit

4. Territory: The presence of the Church

5. Mission: Filing the earth by multiplying disciples in the nations and returning the King for consummate victory over the curse.

We are born into the kingdoms of this world fallen and in captivity to the Kingdom of Satan.

We must SEE the Kingdom of God by being born again or from above.

John 3:1-3

Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.  2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.”  3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

We must ENTER the Kingdom of God by being born of water and Spirit.

John 3:4-6

Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?”  5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.  6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’

Ezekiel 36:25-27

I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you.  26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules

Water prophetically speaks of the forgiving and cleansing work of the blood of Jesus and the receiving of righteousness.

Spirit refers to the literal presence the Spirit within and upon the believer.

We must LIVE as Kingdom people by “moving with the wind”

John 3:8

The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

The word wind here is the same as the word for spirit.

The language here insinuates that the one on the born again one in the kingdom of God will have some ambiguity around their source an their destination yet there will be affect.

In the kingdom to live is to to die to self.

In the kingdom to receive we must give.

In the kingdom to accomplish we rest.

In the kingdom we love enemies and bless when cursed.

In the kingdom we battle spirit forces to get physical breakthrough.

Have you seen, entered, and are now living in this supernatural upside down kingdom?
