An equipping ministry to Disciple the Church.
A mission base to Send the Church.
Making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.
The revealed mystery of God’s will is the uniting of things in heaven and earth together in Christ.
This is accomplished in fullness by the second coming of Jesus and the Millennial Kingdom.
It solves the problem of the separation caused by the fall of Satan and Man
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life;
The end of this age will bring about the completion of the mystery:
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.
My mission today with the word is to show you that though Jesus will unite all things globally and cosmically one day, HE is right now uniting things in our lives.
There exists a great division in our lives between the reality of our practical lives now; work, relationships, money, etc., and the reality of the spiritual realm.
There exists then a great distinction in our minds between our lives now and the age to come.
This was not the case for first century believers and was not the vision of Jesus for his beloved.
I contend that Jesus is uniting the great realities of our practical NOW and our sure FUTURE.
Normal Christian life and mission are to be lived in glorious unity with the age to come.
Connecting our personal Practical NOW to the Glorious FUTRUE age:
1. Accountability for Actions and Time Use:
1 Corinthians 3:10-13
According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it. 11 For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw— 13 each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done.
2 Corinthians 5:10
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.
2 Thessalonians 3:6-8
Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us. 7 For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not idle when we were with you, 8 nor did we eat anyone's bread without paying for it, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you.
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
1 Corinthians 10:31
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” 14 But he said to him, “Man, who made me a judge or arbitrator over you?” 15 And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” 16 And he told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully, 17 and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ 18 And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’ 20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ 21 So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?
5. Secret Spiritual Activity
Matthew 6:4, 6:6, 6:18
so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
18 that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
Matthew 5:3, 5:5, 5:10
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.
We do not have time today but the book of Revelation, especially the word to the churches in Revelation 2 & 3 will tell us that not only individual life is connected to the age to come but also our corporate life together.
TWO FINAL STATEMENTS ABOUT OUR PRACTICAL LIVES BEING UNITED WITH THE AGE TO COME:
1. This age is the "great investment period" into the age to come.
2. Our practical lives now also stimulate the end of the age as we align them with propagation, prayer, and purity.
May the Lord remove the gap that we perceive and feel between our practical everyday lives and the coming of our King to take back the nations.
