An equipping ministry to Disciple the Church.
A mission base to Send the Church.
And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
Not “THE” harvest but rather “HIS” harvest
Keys to Aligning with HIS harvest:
Vision of the Harvest - vs. 36 “When He saw the crowds...”
John 4:28-30, 35
So the woman left her water jar and went away into town and said to the people, 29 “Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ?” 30 They went out of the town and were coming to him.
35 Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest.
Compassion for the Harvest - vs. 36 “he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless like sheep without a shepherd”.
splagxnízomai – "from splanxna, 'the inward parts,' especially the nobler entrails – the heart, lungs, liver, and kidneys. These gradually came to denote the seat of the affections”
Middle voice from splagchnon; to have the bowels yearn, i.e. (figuratively) feel sympathy, to pity -- have (be moved with) compassion.
Harassed and helpless - has the sense of a sheep being prey to a wolf or predator.
Understanding the Crisis of the Harvest - vs. 37 “The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few”.
Prayer for the Harvest - vs 38 “Pray earnestly to the Lord of the Harvest to send out laborers into his harvest”
Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.
