An equipping ministry to Disciple the Church.
A mission base to Send the Church.
2 Kings 6:8-18
Once when the king of Syria was warring against Israel, he took counsel with his servants, saying, “At such and such a place shall be my camp.” 9 But the man of God sent word to the king of Israel, “Beware that you do not pass this place, for the Syrians are going down there.” 10 And the king of Israel sent to the place about which the man of God told him. Thus he used to warn him, so that he saved himself there more than once or twice. 11 And the mind of the king of Syria was greatly troubled because of this thing, and he called his servants and said to them, “Will you not show me who of us is for the king of Israel?” 12 And one of his servants said, “None, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.” 13 And he said, “Go and see where he is, that I may send and seize him.” It was told him, “Behold, he is in Dothan.” 14 So he sent there horses and chariots and a great army, and they came by night and surrounded the city. 15 When the servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. And the servant said, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” 16 He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” 17 Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 18 And when the Syrians came down against him, Elisha prayed to the Lord and said, “Please strike this people with blindness.” So he struck them with blindness in accordance with the prayer of Elisha.
The ministry of Elijah is covered in 1 Kings.
The ministry of Elisha is covered in 2 Kings.
They are two of the most powerful prophets listed in the Old Testament.
Besides their outright ministries being so powerful, there are many types and teachings from their lives.
The Great Types:
- Elijah seems to be a type of John the Baptist & Jesus
- Elisha seems to be a type of the church
- Elijah was the Father
- Elisha was the Son
Elisha's ministry lasted about twice as long as Elijah's (13 to 25 years)
The Kings narrative also records twice as many miracles by Elisha as by Elijah (14 to 7)
-Some scholars speculate that these differences were part of God's answer to grant Elisha a "double portion" of Elijah's spirit - 2 Kings 2:9
Now I want to focus back in on this story in 2 Kings 6
Where Elijah had large swings of emotion, including fear, Elisha seems steady all the way through
I think that Elisha even had a double portion (2 Kings 2:9) of vision into the spirit realm
2 Kings 2:9
When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you.” And Elisha said, “Please let there be a double portion of your spirit on me.”
He is not struggling with the fear of what is in the natural because he can clearly see the provision of the Lord in the spiritual realm – 2 Kings 6:16-17
2 Kings 6:16-17
He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” 17 Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
Prophetic Vision will crush fear by spiritually seeing reality and end up winning the victory by empowering faith filled prayer that crushes the enemy.
Do you have Prophetic Vision in your life that fills you with faith about the actual supply of the Lord in the spirit realm which overcomes the challenges in the natural realm?
The blindness of the servant is changed by the prayer of Elisha.
The blindness of the church is changed through the apostolic prayers:
that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him,
having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places,
What we know doctrinally, we must see spiritually so that we can pray effectively
Prophetic Vision will crush fear and secure the victory in your life
Do you see???
