Notes

Matthew 15:8

“‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me;

Psalms 84:2

My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God.

Matthew 22:37-38

And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment.

Proverbs 25:20

Whoever sings songs to a heavy heart is like one who takes off a garment on a cold day, and like vinegar on soda.

The scripture’s meaning of Heart is - that inward most part of you that is made of desires and affections.

Your heart was formed and fashioned to be first delighted in the Lord:

Psalms 37:4

Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

It is made as an instrument to bring God glory; thus your heart is under attack by the enemy.

A heart that is seduced to other loves or wounded directs its desires and affections in the wrong places.

It is vital then that we take great care to have our heart healthy so it is empowered to do what it was made to do - Worship and bring Glory to its Creator:

Proverbs 4:23

Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.

Multiple Heart Problems are Mentioned in Scriptures

1. Sick Heart

Proverbs 13:12

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.

2. Heavy Heart

Proverbs 12:25

Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.

3. Aching Heart

Proverbs 14:13

Even in laughter the heart may ache, and the end of joy may be grief.

4. Crushed Spirit

Proverbs 17:22

A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

5. Broken and Wounded Heart

Psalms 147:3

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Inward Transfer to set us free to worship

Isaiah 61:3 (NKJV)

To console those who mourn in Zion,

To give them beauty for ashes,

The oil of joy for mourning,

The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;

That they may be called trees of righteousness,

The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”
