Many people in the church have become pro-Jesus, but anti-cross.

Philippians 3:17-21
Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us. 18 For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. 20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

!In this passage the Judaizers (Jews who believed in Jesus but said you must still be circumcised and obey Old Covenant regulations) were referred to as "enemies of the Cross of Christ".

Many walk as enemies, not of Christ, but as enemies of the cross of Christ.

Pro-Christ, Anti-Cross:
Islam - Jesus is a great prophet that they await to return but not the son of God and was not crucified nor resurrected.
Mormons mention Jesus all the time but make little of his cross.
New Age folks love the economics and peaceful way of Jesus but reject the exclusivity of his Cross

Peter is an enemy of Jesus' Cross in Matthew 16:21-26

Matthew 16:21-26

Enemies of the Cross

From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. 22 And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This shall never happen to you.” 23 But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.” 24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?

1) Remember that there is His cross which is His rejection, shame, and suffering to set you free from the sins o!f your soul.

2) Then there is your cross which involves your rejection, shame, and suffering which is inflicted upon you to s!et you free from the self of your soul.

Many in the Church are pro-Jesus but anti-Cross.

A.W. Tozer:
“We must do something about the cross, and one of two things only we can do – flee it or die upon it.”

"The weakness of much that passes for the Christian faith these days is seen in the readiness of many professed followers of Christ to make any concessions in order to “get along with people,” especially with relatives and in-laws. The philosophy of mid-twentieth century Christianity is a philosophy of appeasement. Peace and unity have become the Castor and Pollux of the majority of religious leaders, and truth is regularly sacrificed on their altars.

The notion that “peace on earth” as the New Testament uses the words, means concord between light and darkness is foreign to the whole traditional Christian position. Our Lord cared nothing for the good will of bad men, nor would He alter one word of His message to stay in favor with anyone, be he Jew or pagan or even a member of His own earthly family".

There is no true experience of Resurrection and Pentecostal power without first trusting in Jesus’ cross and embracing our own cross.

Death is the way to life. Humility is the way to exaltedness. Secret righteousness is the way to heavenly open reward. Love is the only way to overcome hate.

Have you put your trust and allegiance fully upon the Crucified Christ for your salvation - no matter the opinion of man?

And are you embracing your sovereignly shaped cross that is fashioned perfectly for your back to carry in this life in order that you might glorify Him and be set free from you?

Are you a friend or enemy of the Cross of Christ?
