I. Habakkuk. 1:5

Habakkuk. 1:5

“Look among the nations, and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told.

How many people do you know who will, most likely, not walk into a church building? They are not alone. Western cultures are facing a major crisis. With 83.6% of America not attending a conventional church on a given weekend and approximately 95% of the people in other western cultures not attending a conventional church, we are praying that God will raise up an epidemic of simple church missionaries.

Approximately 80% of all churches in North America have reached a plateau or are declining. The vast majority of the church’s growth comes from “switchers” - people who move from one church to another. There is precious little conversion growth. Researchers suggest somewhere between 1-3%.

Church attendance is declining:

1990 — 20.4% of Americans attended church on a given weekend

2000 — 18.7% of Americans attended church on a given weekend

2005 — 17.5% of Americans attended church on a given weekend

2010 — 16.2% estimated church attendance

2020 — 14.4% estimated church attendance

2050 — 10.7% estimated church attendance if Jesus has not come.

As of 2008 over 3,500 people leave the church every day.

Every year, approximately 4000 new churches open their doors. Every year approximately 7000 churches close their doors for the last time.

Between 2000—2005, 20 million people, of all denominations, left the typical North American local church.

House Church attendance has increased by 1000%

II. Habakkuk 2:2-3 & Habakkuk 2:14

Habakkuk 2:2-3

And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. 3 For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.

Habakkuk 2:14

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

What is God's vision? To fill the earth with the knowledge of His Glory.

How will he do this? By filling the earth with His presence.

How will he do this? By filling the earth with his church. - Matthew 28:18-20 & Ephesians 1:22-23 & Ephesians 2:19-22

Matthew 28:18-20

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Ephesians 1:22-23

And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

Ephesians 2:19-22

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22 In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

Church is the plural word for disciple. Matthew 18:19-20

Matthew 18:19-20

Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”

The church is at least 2-3 disciples activating unified covenant life and promises so as to bring light into darkness, blessing into cursing, the good news into bad news, and the power of God into the power of Satan.

The church is a group of people literally manifesting the body of Jesus and his fullness, brining to bear the resurrection life of God upon a dying race and planet.

III. Habakkuk 3:2

Habakkuk 3:2

O Lord, I have heard the report of you, and your work, O Lord, do I fear. In the midst of the years revive it; in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.

We cry out in prayer for restoration of the church- going and filling.

We plant the church's presence everywhere in culture, business, schools, neighborhoods.

We desire to pray in and to plant hundreds of churches in our region and thousands in the nations!!!
