Psalms 107:43 (NIV)
43 Let the one who is wise heed these things and ponder the loving deeds of the Lord.

Psalms 111:2 (NIV)
2 Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them

Hebrews 3:18-19 (NIV)
18 And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his REST if not to those who disobeyed?
19 So we see that they were not able to ENTER, because of their unbelief.

LAND is linked to REST

Hebrew 4:3a, 10 (NIV)
3 Now we who have believed enter that rest,
10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his

Egypt = Passover Lamb                       (one x)
Desert = Manna, Rock                         (no variation)
Across the Jordan = Good Land          (abundant)

Deuteronomy 6:10-11 (NIV)
10 When the Lord your God brings you into the land he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you—a land with large, flourishing CITIES you did not build,
11 HOUSES filled with all kinds of good things you did not provide, WELLS you did not dig, and VINEYARDS and olive groves you did not plant—then when you eat and are satisfied,

Deuteronomy 8:7-9 (NIV)
7 For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land—a land with brooks, streams, and deep springs gushing out into the valleys and hills;
8 a land with wheat and barley, vines and fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey;
9 a land where bread will not be scarce and you will lack nothing; a land where the rocks are iron and you can dig copper out of the hills.

Water – verse 7
Food – verse 8 & 9a
Weapons – verse 9b

Psalms 105:44 (NIV)
44 HE gave them the lands of the nations, and they FELL HEIR to what others had toiled for—

Isaiah 30:15-26 (NIV)
15 This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says:
“In repentance and rest is your salvation,
   in quietness and trust is your strength,
   but you would have none of it.
16 You said, ‘No, we will flee on horses.’
   Therefore you will flee!
You said, ‘We will ride off on swift horses.’
   Therefore your pursuers will be swift!
17 A thousand will flee
   at the threat of one;
at the threat of five
   you will all flee away,
till you are left
   like a flagstaff on a mountaintop,
   like a banner on a hill.”
18 Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you;
   therefore he will rise up to show you compassion.
For the Lord is a God of justice.
   Blessed are all who wait for him!
19 People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you.
20 Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them.
21 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
22 Then you will desecrate your idols overlaid with silver and your images covered with gold; you will throw them away like a menstrual cloth and say to them, “Away with you!”
23 He will also send you rain for the seed you sow in the ground, and the food that comes from the land will be rich and plentiful. In that day your cattle will graze in broad meadows.
24 The oxen and donkeys that work the soil will eat fodder and mash, spread out with fork and shovel.
25 In the day of great slaughter, when the towers fall, streams of water will flow on every high mountain and every lofty hill.
26 The moon will shine like the sun, and the sunlight will be seven times brighter, like the light of seven full days, when the Lord binds up the bruises of his people and heals the wounds he inflicted.

REST is learned on the field of battle.

- RETURNING is linked to QUIETNESS = results in Salvation from enemies
- REST is linked to TRUST = results in inward confidence and strength

1) A Reversal of the Leviticus 26:7-8 promise
2) A Fulfillment of the Leviticus 26:17 promise
3) A stripping away

Leviticus 26:7-8 (NIV)
7 You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the sword before you.
8 Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you.

Leviticus 26:17 (NIV)
17 I will set my face against you so that you will be defeated by your enemies; those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee even when no one is pursuing you.

Just - “guided by truth, reason, justice or fairness” - A God of Justice - “He is righteous, equitable and moral.”

THEN - we cast away idols
THEN - we begin to seek His kingdom and His righteousness
THEN - “These things will be added as well”
THEN - life-giving water, nourishment that flows to others.  Until we say “All my springs (fountains) are in you” (Psalms 87:7)
THEN - our Light breaks forth like the dawn

Psalms 103:1-5 (NIV)
1 Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
2 Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—
3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,
5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
