13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit
1 Corinthians 3:16
16 Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?
The Holy Spirit is a person confirmed by:
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
26 “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.
13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.
You actually have a/THE person living inside you. That person has strong expressive emotions, opinions, power, etc.
That person has a mind, will, and emotions, just as your soul does.
The fruits of the spirit can be described as “spiritual emotions.”
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
The reality is that two independent “selves” live inside you:
1. Your own soul or self
2. And the Spirit’s own personhood
17 For the desires (longings) of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires (longings) of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.
This causes much confusions and consternations for the believer.
Counsel on Growing in the Relationship with the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:17
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
1. Practice Active Surrender to inward Spirit Lordship
2. Receive by Faith the Spirit’s fruits
3. Allow flesh birthed emotions and thoughts to be immediate triggers for prayer and faith
4. Move from Monologue Living to Dialogue Living
5. Surrender to The Spirit’s sovereign ways in our lives
6 And blessed is the one who is not offended by me.
