Unlocking the Glory in the Church #1: Getting the Church Flowing
May 14, 2017      |     By: Sam McVay, Jr.      |      Category: Sermons

The transforming gospel, power of the Spirit, and the authority of Christ are resident in the living church of God.  Sam shares that we are literally "treasure chests" locked up and how, with Jesus' power, our wells can be "unplugged" so that the Spirit can be poured out and flow through us.

I believe that the Lord is drawing our team’s heart to agree with Him in a season of “unlocking the glory that is in the church”.

Every believer carries the living Holy Spirit within them and His manifested power, giftings, fruit, love, etc.

Our minds have not begun to conceive the glory of who is in us and who we are in Christ.

The most powerful "change agent" on planet earth is the Church of the Living God populated with Spirit filled believers.

The transforming gospel, power of the Spirit, and the authority of Christ are resident in the living church of God.

We are literally “treasure chests” locked up.

Though seemingly small - we are powder kegs waiting to go off.

Example from Nature:
If you could harness its power—that is, turn every one of its atoms into pure energy—the paper clip would yield about 18 kilotons of TNT. That's roughly the size of the bomb that destroyed Hiroshima in 1945.

In the Hiroshima explosion, countless atoms of uranium were split apart in a nuclear chain reaction. Each time an atom split, the total mass of the fragments speeding apart was less than that of the original atom. The bomb, in essence, transformed three-hundredths of an ounce of mass into a cataclysmic burst of heat and light.

Jesus came not only to pour out but to produce “pourer-outers”!
John 7:37-39
37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.
38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

During Feast of Booths Israel Remembered the Water flow from the Rock
Nehemiah 9:15
15 In their hunger you gave them bread from heaven and in their thirst you brought them water from the rock; you told them to go in and take possession of the land you had sworn with uplifted hand to give them.

During the 25th Year of Captivity Ezekiel Prophesies About an Increasing Healing River of Life from God’s Temple
Ezekiel 47:1-12
1 The man brought me back to the entrance to the temple, and I saw water coming out from under the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar.
2 He then brought me out through the north gate and led me around the outside to the outer gate facing east, and the water was trickling from the south side.
3 As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits and then led me through water that was ankle-deep.
4 He measured off another thousand cubits and led me through water that was knee-deep. He measured off another thousand and led me through water that was up to the waist.
5 He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in—a river that no one could cross.
6 He asked me, “Son of man, do you see this?”  Then he led me back to the bank of the river.
7 When I arrived there, I saw a great number of trees on each side of the river.
8 He said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, where it enters the Dead Sea. When it empties into the sea, the salty water there becomes fresh.
9 Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live.
10 Fishermen will stand along the shore; from En Gedi to En Eglaim there will be places for spreading nets. The fish will be of many kinds—like the fish of the Mediterranean Sea.
11 But the swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt.
12 Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.”

Opening the Wells
Genesis 26:12-18
12 Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the Lord blessed him.
13 The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy.
14 He had so many flocks and herds and servants that the Philistines envied him.
15 So all the wells that his father’s servants had dug in the time of his father Abraham, the Philistines stopped up, filling them with earth.
16 Then Abimelek said to Isaac, “Move away from us; you have become too powerful for us.”
17 So Isaac moved away from there and encamped in the Valley of Gerar, where he settled.
18 Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug in the time of his father Abraham, which the Philistines had stopped up after Abraham died, and he gave them the same names his father had given them.

Will you join me in a season of “unplugging the wells” that are the disciples in this city?
Will you allow yourself to be opened up to flow”?
