He Rode a Ride of Love into Jerusalem to Get You / Seven Grace Gifts

Sam reviews the story of Jesus' ride into Jerusalem - his ride to death on the cross.  Because of his unfailing love, he road into a city full of sinners who would desert, betray and kill him. Such is the example of the depth of love that God has for us.  Sam also expounds on the Seven Grace Gifts and encourages self-examination of our God-given assignments.

Notes

Matthew 21:7-11 (NIV)
7 They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on.
8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”
11 The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”

This was a dangerous ride to death on a cross. 

John 11:8, 16 (NIV)
8 “But Rabbi,” they said, “a short while ago the Jews there tried to stone you, and yet you are going back?”
16 Then Thomas (also known as Didymus) said to the rest of the disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.”


He made this ride out of passion for His Father and you.


Romans 5:6-8 (NIV)
6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.
8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.


Ephesians 3:19 (NIV)
19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.


1 John 4:16-19 (ESV)
16 So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
17 By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world.
18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.
19 We love because he first loved us.


Jesus rode that day into a city full of sinners that would desert, betray, and kill Him.
His love drove him to do this.
